At Gentle Dentistry we haven’t used amalgam since 1989 when it was first discovered that amalgam (black fillings) released mercury. That was over thirty years ago!
Many European countries including Denmark and Sweden have banned the use of mercury amalgam but amazingly it is still in use in the UK.
There are now far superior natural tooth shade materials which bond to the teeth strengthening them, preventing decay and providing beautiful cosmetics.
