I made the decision to move from my NHS dentist as my treatment wasn’t going well and am pleased to say I have met Dan and his wonderful team at Gentle Dentistry in Southbourne. It has been the best decision ever and I’m thrilled with the progress. I needed 2 fillings replacing, one of which had been attempted by several dentists unsuccessfully and am booked in to have a root canal treatment.
 
Dan prides himself on treating patients without causing pain, and he is true to his word. He has the technology to isolate the area he is working on. It’s painless and doesn’t leave you with a numb face for hours after! I highly recommend using Dan and his team. I wouldn’t go anywhere else now 🙂 (S Cutler)

I have been a patient at Gentle Dentistry for over 7 years and both my husband and I would highly recommend this dental practice which really does live up to its name. The team do everything they can to make appointments relaxed, informed and a really positive experience. When I moved here from London I thought I would never replace the quality of service that I had experienced at my former dentist, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. The team are professional, caring and reassuring in all that they do for you. With up to date techniques and technology, Drs Dobson and Cattell are always careful to explain any procedures before and during treatment, which for me is a calming reassurance. I had always been a very nervous patient at the Dentist, but not anymore. Now, in conjunction with appointments with the excellent practice hygienists, we both have much better dental hygiene routines and our oral health has improved dramatically – plus we look forward to our appointments as there is nothing to fear at all. Everything about Gentle Dentistry oozes class. You are treated like a patient rather than a number. They take time to explain what the best treatment is for you. This is all done in a very calm and relaxed manner. This is a wonderful practice, everyone from the reception staff to nurses and dentists could not be more kind and caring. I had always hated my teeth. Now at the age of 68 my teeth have been transformed thanks to the wonderful team at Gentle Dentistry. Old fillings have been changed for new white fillings, new gleaming crowns fitted, my gums are healthy and improved and best of all, for the first time in my life I have straight even teeth after using an invisible aligner. I was impressed by Dan’s patience and attention to detail. He carried out extra work at no extra charge to ensure the final results of my teeth straightening were as perfect as they could be. I feel I struck gold. After a lifetime of mediocre dentistry, I have now experienced the best dentistry. No matter how old you are it is never too late to improve your teeth and your oral health. If you are unhappy with your teeth or you just need a first rate dentist, look no further. After some very bad childhood and adult experiences with dentists, I was reluctant to make any appointments, preferring toothache rather than the dentist. Eventually of course I had no choice. I chose The Gentle Dentist and they really have lived up to that name. My dentist himself is patient, calm and very reassuring, and the receptionists are lovely. I really and truthfully don’t fear an appointment now and I’m happy for this to be posted, in the hope that it will reassure someone else who may be as terrified of the dentist as I was. I had a few questions and queries about what could be done with my teeth like I guess we all have. I was presented with a range of options catering to different time frames and costs which were explained clearly. There was no pressure or stress throughout, I felt under the best care I could ask for and as for the results… SUPERB. The precision and attention to detail is amazing. All my teeth are my own but they suffered from the effects of poor post war childhood dentistry. My amalgam fillings were old and looking pretty ropey. A relative recommended Dan Cattell at Gentle Dentistry and now two months later, my amalgam fillings are gone and I have a better looking and much cleaner feeling mouth.
It took me some years to pluck up the courage to sort my fillings out and Dan and his team’s expertise gave me the confidence to go ahead. A pleasing side effect of the treatment seems to be that after having an eczema-like rash on my face for a number of years (actually more than 20), it appears to have completely gone. Dan Cattell undertook a complete transformation of my teeth, including braces, teeth alignment, whitening, and fillings to complete a balanced set of super attractive teeth and smile. Dan is utterly professional and amazingly detailed and very passionate about his work. This is by far the best Dentist I have ever come across. I am currently looking to undertake some necessary procedures and cosmetic procedures. Dan carefully and meticulously explained to me my range of options and what the difference between cosmetic and necessary work is, timescales, costs etc. He has managed my expectations the entire time and has being very receptive to my own pressures and concerns. You get a very clear explanation of the work you are having done and can trust you have all the necessary information you need. This is truly an outstanding experience for someone who hates going to dentist!
I was putting it off for 10 years, I was terrified! About 3 months ago, in a moment of bravery I phoned and made a dentist appointment. I didn’t expect a lot and thought it would be the first and last appointment. How wrong was I! Now 3 months later, my teeth are almost all fixed now, clean and white! My smile got bigger than before! This is more than a dentist! I cannot recommend Gentle Dentistry higher! The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the staff go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. I love the way my dentist distracts me from thinking about being scared – thank you! He is extremely knowledgeable in many areas, very patient and take time to explain various options along with the pros and cons of each and genuinely interested in your issues and concerns.
