We use Rubber Dam Isolation routinely when restoring teeth. However this becomes particularly important when removing old amalgam fillings. It is a rubber safety net that isolates your mouth from the tooth being worked upon and prevents the ingestion (together with high borme suction) of any amalgam particles.
