Our Services » Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is the process of removing stains and discolouration from the teeth and improving their colour through a gentle bleaching process to make them “whiter”.
A visit with one of our dedicated hygienists can improve the appearance of heavily stained teeth and remove surface staining almost immediately. Additionally, a hygienist visit before starting whitening treatment, to remove any plaque or calculus deposits, can improve the results of whitening treatment.
To achieve a lighter, brighter smile teeth whitening is the best option.
At Gentle Dentistry we offer three whitening options so that you can choose the best treatment to fit your lifestyle and budget known as gold, silver and bronze:-

Whitening does not lighten the colour of fillings, or crowns, or bridges, so this should be planned carefully. Additionally, the results of teeth whitening can vary from patient to patient depending on the starting shade and the desired result. Also, there is an individual limit to which a person’s teeth will whiten.
Gold (in our opinion the best option) – Power Whitening In-surgery and Home Whitening
Treatment starts with a one hour in surgery Power Whitening session and then continues at home using custom made whitening trays. A full photographic record is kept throughout the procedure.
Your home whitening kit includes 20 days whitening gel, enough for two 1/2 hour whitening sessions per day.
This option has the benefit of the quick start of the in surgery Power Whitening but continues at home at your leisure. It also has the benefit of being able to top up your whitening treatment in the future, by purchasing additional whitening gels, should your teeth start to darken again, or become stained, from everyday beverages such as tea and coffee or red wine.
Silver– Power Whitening in Surgery
A one hour appointment at which time your gums are shielded and WY10 Whitening Gel is applied to the teeth and activated with our thermal diffuser. You can achieve several shades lighter in one session however, for the best results, and for patients with darker teeth, two sessions may be required. Before and after whitening treatment your tooth shade is measured and a photographic record is taken to track results achieved.
This solution is best for those patients who do not wish to, or do not have the time to, carry out whitening treatment at home.
Bronze – At Home Whitening
This is a very effective lower cost option, however the results take longer to achieve. Impressions are taken of your teeth so that our specialist laboratory can make custom home trays. A photographic record is made and your shade is measured. You will then be shown how to carry out whitening treatment at home and supplied with your home whitening kit which contains a 20 day supply of whitening gel, enough for two 1/2 hour whitening sessions per day.
At the end of treatment your tooth shade will be remeasured. Further whitening gels can be purchased if required.
